MALL (MOBILE ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING) AND MOBILE DEVICES Nowadays, we are witnessed the concomitant rise of use of mobile devices wherever we go, and the popularity of mobile devices has in classrooms. Now, it is normally to see students with their friends walking around with their mobile devices in hand consulting, chatting, playing or surfing on social networks.   The practicality of mobile devices has given us the use of technology and why not to take advantage of these devices for learning a new language using an approach. For the reasons above I chose this article because I wanted to learn how face and use a mobile device as an elementary tool for the teaching and learning process with my students. Reading this article and many more I could find out about MALL approach which is aligned with the use of mobile devices and also with the Special Population Course for Young Learners, Teens and Adults. Teaching Adult Learners English (Daniela)

TEACHING ADULT LEARNERS ENGLISH (DANIELA CASTILLO)                 I decided select this article about adult learners because it has some important information according with it the adult learners have needs, experiences and expectations when will learn a foreign language in this case is English language, this is a study of  (University) Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences also this article is about the trials` teachers with the adult learners but it depends according with the teacher`s methodology and the different skills that they follow during their learning.                One of the most important difference between young learners and adult learners is that the adult learners have very clear goals in their learning in a new language because the majority of adult learners work and they have limited time so they try...

Teaching Adult Learners (Byron)

Teaching Adult Learners    ( Byron Soria)     Well, I chose this topic, because, actually I am working  at the University as an English teacher, and obviously I am interested to learn new things, and share some ideas. I consider this article is good in the teaching-learning process especially with adults. I would like to share really good aspects that this paper mentions and add others things base on my own experience. For  example, this article says Adults have a lot of experience that can contribute to the class.     I completely agree with this. I had the opportunity to work with some teachers that were  studying  in the university. They have been educators in different schools for some years, but they do not have a bachelor’s degree, they were in the collage to get the degree. Obviously, they have experience in the teaching  field . One day one of them told me. “Teacher, I know a game in Spanish can we adap...

Teaching Young Learners (Isabel)

During the last class that I have about teaching young learners between 5 and 12, I could remember when I tought my students during 4 years ago, I had troubles keeping my students engaged during the lesson because as a teacher we have to be very quikly with them,we have to find different strategies to teach them and young learner classroom should be visual, hand activities and strong community help young students learn, is a litle diffficult but no imposible. As a teacher should have goals with the young learners like gaing a better underdtanding, provide  examples for implementing some strategies in the language classroom, during the class our teacher said that Teacher need to know how children learn and how they make sense of the world also Teacher need to know about language, language learning and keeping students on task as a teacher.  I think that videos help to engage students in their learning because young learners can see different pictures character in which they ...

TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS AND TEENS (ISABEL)

TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS AND TEENS   One of the most common beliefs is that teaching teenagers is a difficult task. Many English teachers would probably agree that it is hard to establish a good learning atmosphere in a teenager classroom. It is also widely decided that teenagers are less motivated than other groups of learners. It is the age of students that represents a major factor in teachers’ decisions about what and how to teach.               The transition from the lower-primary to the upper-primary school grades generally represents a breaking point. At this stage, children start entering the period of adolescence and their attitudes to school change. While young children, especially those up to the age of ten, show enthusiasm for learning, young teenagers usually lose interest in learning. This phenomenon is recognized as a very important factor affecting both teaching and learning at primary schools. Si...

Assessing Teen Learners (Nancy)

HOW ASSESSING TO TEEN LEARNERS (Nancy Barreno)             As reflection according last class, a topic very useful and interesting as teachers we must face, the assessment of learner in its integrality. I think the successful of human being depend of many factors from when is a little boy, the affective, physical development, cognitive stage and values play a very important role. The Physical and emotional stage sometimes result in a problem because often they are moodiness and difficult behavior, and feel to be ignored and misunderstood due hormones can’t completely explain their behavior, because they   experiment primarily results from changes in the development of the brain until 25,   when they have achieved maturity. This stage affect the scholar part in them, a crucial element in its future, and we as teachers must apply the positive psychology   in the classroom as means of stimulation “bad...
