Online components of class
A quick reminder of the things we will be sharing on this blog during our virtual and online work each week:
a. Add something NEW to the conversation by doing one or more of the following
things.
*Ask a question and propose answers/solutions.
*Compare and/or contrast to something you know about the topic.
*Relate the topic to your own experience, giving clear details.
*Propose additional readings/videos/other resources.
b. Show that you watched/read the video/articles but should not be vague or give a
summary. Avoid saying things like “I agree”, “yes, that’s a good point”, “good article”,
etc., unless you have something NEW to add to your classmates’ analysis.
c. Show that you have thought carefully and thoroughly about the content of
your classmates’ articles/videos.
And please don't hesitate to contact me during the week if you have any questions!
- Write a blog post reflecting on the previous face-to-face class
- Choose one app for young learners and evaluate it by creating a video
- Choose one article that addresses a concern or question you have about teaching English to young learners. Post the link to the article and then write a post analyzing and evaluating the article.
- Don't forget to log into Skype for your Sunday meeting with me (the time you signed up for)
1. Read your classmates’ articles and comment.
2. Watch classmates’ app videos and comment.
3. Read and reflect on your classmates' comments. Be prepared to discuss them in the next face-to-face class.

Be specific (not vague). For example:
a. Propose a question (or questions) to something
you do not understand (or share
something that you now understand).

content seen in class.

how your beliefs/feelings may have

In addition, for your video, be sure to:

Describe the app: what does it do, who is it
for, why should teachers/students download/use it?

Discuss what type of learner would benefit best
from the app and why.

Discus why you chose the app.

What makes this app special?
When writing the blog post about the article you chose, remember that it is NOT a summary of the article. You can consider the following questions/ideas to help guide you:
a.
Why did you choose this article? What do you
hope to learn through this article?
b.
Share any new information or confirmed
information (what you already knew/suspected but didn’t have backed up by
research/other references).
c. Write 2-3 questions that the article raises, or
doesn’t address. You can also write questions that you think the article
answers.
d.
Discuss how this article can help you personally
and/or professionally.
e.
What is your best takeaway from this article?
And finally, please keep in mind the following considerations when commenting on your classmates' videos and article analyses:
